WESTMINSTER, Md. – St. Mary's (Md.) won five of the 11 events but also added five second-place finishes to defeat McDaniel 52-43 in non-conference men's swimming action on Friday.
Brad Brooks (Newark, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) won three times to lead the Green Terror (0-3), including setting a pair of new Harlow Pool records. He won the 200 butterfly in a pool-record time of 1:58.96, which ranks third in program history, just 0.20 seconds shy of the record). He also won the 500 freestyle in pool-record time, turning in a time of 4:39.07to win by more than 33 seconds.
Brooks also won the 1000 by nearly a minute with a time of 9:50.46.
Stevie Hoyt (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and Justin Allen (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) also won twice for McDaniel.
Thor Peterson and Micahel Speer led the Seahawks (3-5) with a pair of wins each.
The duo joined Dylan Cope and Matt Walchuck to win the 400 free relay in a time of 3:22.75 to secure the meet victory. Peterson also won the 200 free (1:50.16) while Speer touched first in the 100 free (49.64).
Hoyt and Allen joined Logan Linden (Millville, Del./Indian River) and Patrick Rogers (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) to open the meet with a victory in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:43.89. The joint time ranks sixth in program history.
Hoyt later won the 200 IM individually in a time of 2:02.98 while Allen was first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:15.33, which ranks fifth all-time.
Rogers finished second in the 200 free (1:51.05) and 100 free (50.30 seconds) while Hoyt was second in the 200 backstroke (2:07.05).
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Ursinus on Saturday. Meet time is 1 p.m.
