WESTMINSTER, Md. – A 7-0 second-half run propelled McDaniel to a six-point lead en route to a 63-54 Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball victory over Ursinus on Saturday.

Rachael Rybak (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) poured in a career-high 23 to pace the Green Terror (6-7, 3-6 CC), who rallied from a halftime deficit for the first time this season.

Alyssa Polimeni led the Bears (8-6, 5-4 CC) with 14 points while Diamond Lewis added 11.

Clinging to a 29-28 halftime lead, Ursinus stretched the lead to 33-30 on a Polimeni layup with 16:19 to play in the half before Emma Wingerd (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) responded with a jumper to pull the hosts back within one.

Wingerd added the front end of two free throws with 14:56 on the clock to knot the game before Lewis hit the back of two from the charity stripe to re-establish the one-point lead.

A Lindsey Nichols (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) 3-pointer, however, countered with a triple to spark the game-changing run with 13:53 showing.

AWingerd fast-break layup off her steal and one of Allie Eader's (Ijamsville, Md./Linganore) five assists and a Rybak jumper stretched the advantage to six just 1:28 later.

A Lewis three-point play closed the deficit to 42-39 but back-to-back buckets from Steph Perez (Harrsiburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) and Codi McMaster (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) stretched the lead to seven with 8:09 remaining.

Caroline Shimrock trimmed the margin to 50-46 with 5:05 on the clock but the Green Terror responded with an 8-2 burst to take its first double-digit lead in the final minute.

Knotted at 4-all, a Shimrock jumper and Lewis three-point play established a five-point lead for the Bears with 15:59 on the first-half clock.

Five straight points from Polimeni stretched the advantage to 17-10 with 11:33 showing before seven points from Rybak keyed a 10-4 stretch that pulled the hosts within one just 2:34 later.

Back-to-back Rybak jumper after a Polimeni layup gave McDaniel its first lead 24-23 at the 7:06 mark.

Wingerd finished with 13 points while Perez added 11 points and a career high-tying seven rebounds. Wingerd added five rebounds and three assists. Eader chipped in three steals to go with her five helpers.

The Green Terror shot a season-best 47.2 percent from the field, including 13-for-26 in the second half.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Gettysburg on Tuesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
