Longo goes 3-for-3

Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored seven runs in the second and third innings to key a 9-2 non-conference baseball victory over Penn State-York on Monday.

Chris Longo (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) led the Green Terror (15-8) with a 3-for-3 day, adding a pair of RBIs.

Nick Baker paced the Lions (2-8) with two hits, including an inside-the-park home run.

James Chiorello (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep) drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the second inning before a Marshall Betts (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) single put runners at first and second.

Jimmy Najera (Fort Washington, Md./DeMatha) laid down a sacrifice bunt but a wild throw allowed him to reach second and both runners to score for a 2-0 lead.

A Longo single through the right side put runners at the corners for Joe Fiore (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Beach), who beat out the turn of a potential double play, scoring Najera in the process for a 3-0 lead.

After a rundown resulted in the second out, Tyler Jackow (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) was hit by a pitch.

After Jackow stole second, Patrick Christopher (Union Beach, N.J./St. John Vianney) was issued an intentional pass and Brandon Hayward (Salisbury, Md./J.M. Bennett) singled home Jackow to push the lead to 4-0.

Chiorello led off the fourth with a single to shallow right before Najera doubled him home with one out.

A wild pitch moved Najera to third, allowing him to score on Longo's sacrifice fly.

Fiore and Jackow followed with back to back-to-back singles before Christopher roped a double for a 7-0 lead.

With two outs in the fifth, Baker lofted a ball to center that the wind played with, eventually landing in right-center to give him an inside-the-park home run.

A Norbert Rodriguez single, stolen base and singles from Baker and Tyler Page closed the gap to 7-2 in the top of the seventh.

Mike Freeman (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the inning before Chiorello and Najera were each hit by pitches to load the bases.

A Longo single and throwing error on a squib hit by PJ Anderson (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) scored Freeman and Chiorello, respectively, to set the final margin.

Christopher finished with two hits.

Freshman David Pisauro (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus), working for the third time in the last seven days, pitched the first five innings with seven strikeouts to pick up his second win.

McDaniel returns to action at Dickinson on Tuesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
