Pisauro goes eight for first win

Box Score

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – McDaniel pitching hurled its third shutout in the last five games, defeating Mass.-Boston 12-0 at the 2012 RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday.

Freshman David Pisauro (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) pitched eight innings for the Green Terror (6-3), scattering five hits and striking out six for his first collegiate win. James Chiorello (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep) went 2-for-4 with six RBIs to key the offense.

Mark McCormack led the Beacons (3-1) with a 2-for-4 outing.

Garret Nemser (Hartsdale, N.Y./Edgemont) drew a one-out walk in the third before scoring on a Tyler Jackow (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) single two batters later.

Marshall Betts (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) was hit by a pitch to lead off the fourth before Jimmy Najera (Fort Washington, Md./DeMatha) drew a walk to put runners at first and second.

After a passed ball, Betts scored on a Chris Longo (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) RBI groundout and Najera came home when Joe Fiore (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Beach) reached on an error for a 3-0 lead.

In the sixth, Longo was hit by a pitch and Fiore drew a walk to lead off the inning.

A Nesmer sacrifice moved both up a base before Brandon Hayward (Salisbury, Md./J.M. Bennett) was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Jackow knocked Longo in with a fielder's choice before a wild pitch allowed Fiore to score to make it a 5-0 game.

Hayward singled to open the eighth before Jackow's bunt went for a base hit.

A Ricky LaSota (Burtonsville, Md./Paint Branch) walk and pair of wild pitches scored Hayward to stretch the lead to 6-0 with runners at the corners.

Chiorello greeted Mass.-Boston's fourth pitcher of the game, cranking a 3-2 pitch over the left-field wall for a three-run shot and 9-0 lead.

A Jackow double and LaSota walk put two on with one out in the ninth for Chiorello, who drilled a second three-run home run off a different hurler.

Jackow finished 3-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Pisauro retired the first 11 batters he faced in the contest to key his first start.

The Green Terror returns to action in a doubleheader against Rhode Island College on Thursday. The first game begins at 9 a.m.
