McDaniel plates five in first two innings to key 16-5 win over Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jimmy Najera (Fort Washington, Md./DeMatha) recorded two hits, an RBI and three runs scored to lead McDaniel to a 16-5 win over Gallaudet in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday.

James Chiorello (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep) and Brandon Kline (Myersville, Md./Middletown) added two-hit, two-run scored, one-RBI outings for the Green Terror (12-19), who also received a pair of hits from Matthew Pace (Baltimore, Md./North County).

Zane Noschese paced the Bison (17-22) with a 3-for-4 outing.

Tyler Jackow (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) led off the game with a walk before he was replaced by Patrick Christopher (Union Beach, N.J./St. John Vianney) at first on a fielder's choice.

A Ricky LaSota (Burtonsville, Md./Paint Branch) double to right scored Christopher for a 1-0 lead before LaSota moved to third on a groundout and scored on a fielding error to double the advantage.

A single, walk and bunt single loaded the bases before a line-drive double play made it first and second with two outs.

Jackow drew his second bases on balls in as many innings to reload the bases before a fielding error allowed Chris Longo (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) to score.

LaSota and Chiorello drew consecutive bases-loaded walks to force in Kline and Jackow, respectively, and push the lead to 5-0.

A Casey Hicks double and throwing error coupled with a William Bissell sacrifice fly cut the deficit to 5-1 in the bottom of the third.

A walk and hit batsman before a Jordan Walters RBI single made it a 5-2 game before McDaniel responded with five runs in the top of the fourth.

Ryan Byrnes (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown North) was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt.

Christopher followed with a triple and scored on a LaSota fielder's choice.

Chiorello singled to put runners at first and second before a Najera walk loaded the bases.

A throwing error allowed LaSota and Chiorello to score with two outs before a Longo double plated Najera for a 10-2 advantage.

A one-out Najera double, Pace triple and Longo RBI groundout stretched the lead to 12-2 in the sixth.

With one out in the seventh, Chiorello doubled and Najera tripled to make it a 13-2.

With two outs, Longo walked and Kline singled in Najera before Byrnes cleared the bases with a triple.

A Bissell double and Chris Guinn triple in the bottom of the inning. A Yuri Johnston single plated Guinn before Walters scored on a throw to set the final margin.

Mike Freeman (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) pitched six innings with six strikeouts to pick up his second win of the year on the hill.

LaSota finished with a hit and three RBIs.

McDaniel concludes the season at home against Messiah on Wednesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
