Washington tallies late to remain perfect, defeat McDaniel

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Carly Eisenbrant scored with 5:16 to play, breaking a 7-all deadlock and lifting Washington (Md.) to an 8-7 Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse victory over McDaniel on Wednesday.

Eisenbrandt was one of three players for the Shorewomen (7-0, 1-0 CC) to record two goals. Sarah Cannon and Kathleen Maleski also scored twice to help their team remain undefeated.

Lisa Jurd (Columbia, Md./Hammond) paced the Green Terror (1-5, 1-1 CC) with three goals and an assist.

Trailing 7-6 after back-to-back tallies from Jurd gave the Green Terror its first lead of the game with 13:38 to play, Maleski finished a solo run 15 seconds later to even the score.

Just over eight minutes later, Eisenbrandt broke the third deadlock of the game with an unassisted marker.

Kalli Parrish and Rachel Bartee staked the hosts to a 2-0 before three minutes had elapsed before Anna Beaudry (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) finished a feed from Chelsea Watkins (Columbia, Md./Hammond) to draw McDaniel within 2-1 with 24:48 on the clock.

Maleski converted a free-position attempt with 22:57 remaining before Cannon stretched the lead to 4-1 with 13:35 showing.

Brittany Lines (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) found Lauren McCadden (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) with 1:32 to play, pulling the visitors within 4-2 at the intermission.

Tallies from Mary Tokolish (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and Jurd in the first 4:15 of the second half knotted the game at 4-all. Jurd had the assist on Tokolish's goal.

Cannon and Eisenbrandt scored 46 seconds apart to stretch the lead back to two with 20:57 showing but Tokolish started a 3-0 run, hitting a free-position shot with 17:21 remaining.

Aimee Semler (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) made 11 saves in goal for the Green Terror, who was outshot 33-17 in the game.

McDaniel returns to action at Haverford on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
