Bears split singles with McDaniel in season finale
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Josh Hollaman
recorded a pair of wins to lead Ursinus to a 6-3 victory over
McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's tennis action on
Friday.
The Bears (8-111, 1-8 CC) swept doubles before splitting singles
play with the Green Terror (4-11, 0-9 CC) for their first
conference win of the season in the finale for both teams.
Hollaman teamed with Jason Zerbe for an 8-2 win
at third doubles before winning at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Zerbe
also won twice, taking No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-3.
Ben Faber (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) and
Dan Hovorka (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) each won
their singles matches in straight sets for McDaniel. Faber won 6-3,
6-2 at first while Hovorka was victorious 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 2
slot.
Justin Ward rounded out the Green Terror
winners, taking No. 4 singles 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
