Diplomats remain in playoff position with win
LANCASTER, Pa. – Paul Salierno won twice
to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 9-0 victory over McDaniel in
Centennial Conference (CC) men's tennis action on Wednesday.
Salierno teamed with Josh Calo for an 8-2 win
at third doubles as part of a sweep for the Diplomats (8-4, 5-1 CC)
before notching a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fifth singles.
Peter Bookman was also a double winner for
Franklin & Marshall, teaming with Ross
Silverman for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles before taking a
6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 3 singles.
Samuael Stone and Dan Hovorka (Storrs,
Conn./E.O. Smith) played the highlight match of singles.
After Stone took the first set 6-3, Hovorka forced a tiebreak in
the second set, where Stone prevailed 7-4 for the 7-6 win.
The Green Terror (4-8, 0-6 CC) returns to action at home against
Haverford on Saturday. Match time is 12 p.m.
