Hovorka, Waltemeyer take 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Dan Hovorka (Storrs, Conn./E.O.
Smith) capped his two-win day with a 6-0, 6-0 win at
second singles to lead McDaniel to a 9-0 win over Lancaster Bible
in non-conference men's tennis action on Monday.
The Green Terror (4-7) dropped seven games in singles play to
record its first shutout of the season, downing the Chargers (0-8)
in straight sets in the process.
Hovorka teamed with Ben Faber (Wayne,
Pa./Conestoga) for an 8-1 win at first doubles before
recording one of two 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles play. Aaron Waltemeyer (Towson, Md./Towson) also won his fifth singles
match, 6-0, 6-0.
Steve French (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott
Key) and Justin Ward added an 8-0 win at
second doubles.
Faber and French won their singles matches at No. 1 (6-0, 6-2)
and No. 3 (6-2, 6-0), respectively whiele Ward was a 6-0, 6-1
winner at fourth singles.
Luke Schmidt (Red Lion, Pa.) rounded out double
winners with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the sixth spot.
McDaniel returns to action at Franklin & Marshall on
Wednesday. Match time is 4:30 p.m.
