Connecticut College prevails in OT

Camels hand McDaniel first loss with late rally

ORLANDO, Fla. – Katelyn Driscoll scored with 1:12 to play in the first half of the first overtime period to give Connecticut College a 13-12 victory over McDaniel in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Tuesday.

Sara Christopher tallied five times and added four assists for the Camels (1-1), including with 4:05 remaining in regulation to knot the score and force the extra session.

Chelsea Watkins (Columbia, Md./Hammond) led a quartet of players with two goals for the Green Terror (4-1), adding an assist.

Trailing 12-11, Christopher finished an Abby Hill feed to knot the game.

Nearly two-thirds of the way through the first half of the six-minute first overtime, Christopher found Driscoll for the game-winner.

Hope Barone tallied off the first Driscoll feed just 1:57 into the game to stake Connecticut to an early 1-0 lead.

Lisa Jurd (Columbia, Md./Hammond) and Sarah Mintz (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) found the back of the net nearly seven minutes apart to give McDaniel a 2-1 lead with 20:25 to play in the first half.

Hill and Christopher gave the Camels a one-goal lead 6:32 later before three straight Green Terror goals made it a 5-3 game at the break.

Chrisopher tallied 1:05 into the second half before Brianna Miller finished a solo run 13 seconds later to even the game at 5-all.

Goals from Brittany Baer (Manchester, Md./Westminster) and Kelly Scheler (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) put McDaniel back on top by two with 22:26 to play.

Two Paige Cowie markers once again knotted the score before Jurd tallied unassisted with 19:16 to play.

The two teams traded two-goal bursts over the next 13 minutes capped by back-to-back Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) goals for a 12-11 Green Terror lead with 6:31 to play.

McDaniel returns to action at Elizabethtown on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
