Green Terror seeks fourth women's basketball title in eight

WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel will travel to Allentown, Pa., in
search of its fourth Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball
championship this weekend.
The third-seeded Green Terror (18-6, 16-4 CC) faces
second-seeded Gettysburg (22-3, 17-3 CC) in Saturday's second
semifinal, scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. or 30 minutes upon the
conclusion of the day's first semifinal. McDaniel swept the season
series, including by an 82-70 margin in the season finale last
Saturday.
The day's first semifinal pits host and top-seeded Muhlenberg
(20-4, 17-3 CC) against the winner of Wednesday's first-round game
between the fourth-seeded Johns Hopkins (15-9, 13-7 CC) and
fifth-seeded Dickinson (16-8, 12-8 CC). That game tips off at 2
p.m.
The championship game will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Admission for all games is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Youths 12 and under as well as students from participating
institutions, who present their ID, are free.
The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to
the 2010 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on Friday,
Mar. 5. The NCAA field will be announced at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
McDaniel is seeking its fourth CC championship in the last eight
years and fifth berth in the NCAA tournament. The Green Terror
claimed the conference crown and NCAA bid in 2002, 2004 and 2005.
The squad also earned an at-large bid in 2007.
Muhlenberg is in search of its sixth CC title while Johns
Hopkins seeks its fifth. Dickinson goes for its second conference
crown. Gettysburg seeks its first conference title.
Ali Moreland (Davidsonville, Md./South River)
leads the team in scoring (14.5 ppg) and steals (61) while ranking
second in assists (71) and field-goal percentage (.454). She is
also fourth in rebounding (4.5 rpg).
Katelyn Fischer (Reisterstown, Md./Seton
Keough) ranks second on the team in scoring (10.5 ppg) and
3-pointers (29) while leading the team in assists (80) and
field-goal percentage (.487).
Ashley Lyles (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti)
ranks third on the team in scoring (10.0 ppg), leading the team in
both rebounding (6.4 rpg) and blocked shots (52).
