WESTMINSTER, Md. – Shawn Kelly went 2-0
to lead Stevenson to a 5-4 victory over McDaniel in non-conference
men's tennis action on Thursday.
The Mustangs (3-2) won two of the three doubles matches before
splitting the singles matches with the Green Terror (3-3) to
preserve the one-point win.
Kelly teamed with Shawn Hellman for an 8-4 victory
at third doubles before taking a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles to
clinch the match for Stevenson.
Hellman added a 6-4, 6-2 win at sixth singles.
In the match of the night, Daniell Keltz rallied
in the third set to force the tiebreaker and eventually won that,
12-10.
Ben Faber (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) went 2-0 lead the
Green Terror, teaming with Dan Hovorka (Storrs, Conn./E.O.
Smith) for an 8-7 win at No. 1 doubles before taking his
second singles, 6-0, 6-0.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Muhlenberg on Wednesday.
