HAVERFORD, Pa. – Brittany Baer (Westminster,
Md./Westminster) recorded six goals to lead McDaniel to a
13-11 victory over Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC)
women's lacrosse action on Saturday.
With the six goals, Baer now has 67 on the season, surpassing her
single-season program-record 63 goals last season. For her career,
she has 130 goals, which ranks sixth on the career list for the
Green Terror (8-6, 4-3 CC) and leaves her 48 shy of the Sandi
Stevens' record.
Liz Koelmel led the Fords (9-5, 3-4 CC) with four
goals.
Trailing 5-1 after four straight Haverford goals, including three
from Koelmel, Baer finished the first of four Lindsey
McDonald (Germantown, Md./Damascus) assists at the 21:27
mark.
Two Stephanie Sudbrook (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven)
free-position goals trimmed the deficit to 5-4 before Alexa
Pesce scored twice in a 54-second span to give the Fords a
7-4 lead with 16:14 to play in the opening half.
Sudbrook and Baer made it a 7-6 game with 12:58 showing before
Nora Proops gave the hosts an 8-6 advantage two
minutes later.
Two Baer tallies and a Jennifer Stone (Baltimore, Md./Loch
Raven) marker gave the Green Terror a 9-8 advantage 5:22
before intermission.
McDonald and Baer stretched the lead to 11-8 nearly four minutes
into the second stanza before goals from Koelmel and Lauren
Finkel closed the gap to one at the 17:53
mark.
Sudbrook completed her four-goal day with 6:57 showing but
MaryAlice Postel answered 33 seconds
later.
Baer just beat the final horn to set the final margin.
Sudbrook added three draw controls, three ground balls and two
caused turnovers. Stone finished with two goals and two
assists.
By virtue of Dickinson's 19-16 win over Ursinus, the Green
Terror and Red Devils, who meet in Westminster on Wednesday, are
tied for fourth place in the conference standings with two games to
play. The winner will be assured a playoff berth and will have the
upper hand at the No. 4 seed and hosting the first-round playoff
game on Apr. 22.
Game time on Wednesday is 4:30 p.m.
