Garnet notches 56-38 victory over McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Anne Miller won the first
three events of the meet to pace Swarthmore in a 56-38 victory over
McDaniel in the Centennial Conference (CC) women's swimming opener
for both teams on Saturday.
The Garnet (1-1, 1-0 CC) won eight of the 11 events, including
the first six, for its first win of the season.
Rachel Walega (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) led the
Green Terror (1-2, 0-1 CC) with a pair of victories, touching first
in the 100 freestyle (58.74) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.75).
Miller teamed with Hannah Gotwals,
Stephanie Su and Rasalie Lawrence
for a victory in the 200 medley relay (2:03.40) before winning the
1000 free (11:16.93) and 200 free (2:04.62).
Gotwals added a three-win day, recording individual wins in the
200 IM (2:25.24) and 100 backstroke (1:10.33).
Megan Giroux (Damascus, Md./Damascus),
Andrea Mills (Laurel, Md./Laurel) and
Alyssa Romasco (Gilbertsville, Pa./Perkiomen) and
Caitlin Pozmanter (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward
Melville) added a win in the 200 free relay with a
combined time of 1:57.90.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Gettysburg on
Wednesday. Meet time is 7 p.m.
