Garnet downs McDaniel 56-39
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Daniel Duncan won three
times to lead Swarthmore to a 56-39 victory over McDaniel in the
Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming opener for both teams on
Saturday.
The Garnet (2-0, 1-0 CC) won the first four events of the meet
and eight of the 11 events overall as part of its victory.
Stephen Gomez (Charlottesville, Va./Albermarle)
and Jonathan Leafblad (Garnee, Ill./Warren Twp.)
took individual victories for the Green Terror (0-2, 0-1 CC),
touching first in the 200 IM (2:03.12) and 100 butterfly (57.38),
respectively.
Roger Chin, Sterling
Satterfield, Duncan and Tim Brevart
teamed to open the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay in a
time of 1:43.09.
Duncan touched first in the next event, completing the 1000 free
in a time of 10:33.70. He later added a win in the 500 free
(4:59.28).
Jacob Benveniste and Brevart won the 200 free
and 50 free, respectively before Gomez and Leafblad took McDaniel's
two individual wins.
Chin added a second win in the 100 backstroke with a time of
58.46.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Gettysburg on
Wednesday. Meet time is 7 p.m.
