Gomez wins 1,000 free to pace Green Terror
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Griffin Kearney was a triple
winner to lead Susquehanna to a 157-97 win over McDaniel in
non-conference men's swimming action on Saturday.
Stephen Gomez (Charlottesville, Va./Albermarle)
won the 1,000 freestyle in a time of 10:33.64 to lead the Green
Terror (0-1) in the first meet of the season.
Kearney paced the Crusaders (1-0) with individual victories in
the sprints, touching first in the 50 freestyle (22.64) and 100
freestyle (50.41). He was also part of the 200 medley relay, which
won in a time of 1:43.39 to open the meet.
Colin Sullivan also won three times, joining
Kearney on the relay before winning individually in the 100 and 200
breaststrokes.
Chadd Lee and James Strande
rounded out the relay and added single individual wins, touching
first in the 100 butterfly and 200 backstroke, respectively.
Morgan DeHart (Salisbury, Md./Wiciomico) won
the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.13.
Gomez added a second victory as part of the 200 freestyle relay,
joining Bryan Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk
Academy), Justin Gaudian (Fairfax Station,
Va./Lake Braddock) and Wes Henry (Greencastle,
Pa./Perkiomen). The quartet finished in a time of 1:35.91.
The Green Terror opens the Centennial Conference schedule at
home against Swarthmore on Saturday. Meet time is 2 p.m.
