WESTMINSTER, Md. – Stephen Gomez (Charlottesville,
Va./Albermmarle) won three times to lead McDaniel to a
61-33 victory over Elizabethtown in non-conference men's
swimming action on Tuesday.
The Green Terror (1-3) won eight of the 11 events to defeat the
Blue Jays (2-8).
The Elizabethtown women (6-4) defeated McDaniel (0-4), 56-39.
Gomez touched first in the 1000 freestyle (10:33.31) and 200
backstroke (2:07.88) to earn a pair of individual victories before
swimming the third leg of the 400 free relay, which won with a time
of 3:34.22.
James Eu (Reston, Va./Hargrave Military Academy)
added a three-win performance, teaming with Gomez in the 400 free
relay after individual victories in the 100 (51.10) 200 (1:51.53)
freestyle events.
Morgan DeHart (Salisbury, Md./Wicomico), also part
of the winning relay, touched first in the 200 IM with a time of
2:09.88.
Lindsay Riley and Gretchen Geiger
notched triple-win performances for the Blue Jays, who won eight
events including the final seven of the meet.
Jessica Fry (St. Mary's, Ga./Camden County)
won the 1000 free for McDaniel with a time of 11:18.88.
Katie Dorian (Newtown Square, Pa./Notre Dame
Academy) and Rachel Walega (Ambler,
Pa./Wissahickon) added victories in the 200 (2:06.03) and
50 (26.84), respectively.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Dickinson on Saturday.
