WESTMINSTER, Md. – Bridget McGovern
recorded a goal and an assist to lead St. Mary's (Md.) to a
4-0 victory over McDaniel in non-conference women's soccer
action on Wednesday.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill)
made nine saves in goal for the Green Terror (1-2), who were
outshot 22-6 on the afternoon.
The Seahawks (2-0) tallied twice in each half to key the
victory.
In the 22nd minute, St. Mary's set up for a free
kick in the top-left corner of the box. Katie
Klotz sent the ball into a flock of Seahawks, where
McGovern touched the ball to Karissa Carroll for
the first goal of the contest.
With 2:06 remaining before intermission, Lauren
Carrier finished a solo run from the top of the box to
double the advantage.
In the 81st minute, McGovern finished a long pass from
Allison Ahdieh to make it a 3-0 game.
Meghan Anderson tacked on the final goal of the
game with fewer than four minutes to play.
Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster)
notched four of McDaniel's shots while Rachel
McCallum (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) tallied the other
two.
The Green Terror returns to action at Frostburg on Saturday. Game
time is 12 p.m.
