McDaniel Clinches Home Playoff Game With 2-2 Tie at Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Goals by sophomore Alaina Miller and first-year Hariette Ngwatung helped secure a 2-2 tie for the McDaniel College women's soccer team at Gettysburg Wednesday night on Clark Field.

As a result, the Green Terror (9-3-5, 5-2-3 CC) secured a home game in the first round of the 2026 Centennial Conference Women's Soccer Championship next Tuesday, November 3. It will mark the fifth time in the last six seasons that the team has hosted a conference postseason game.

McDaniel scored the game's first two goals in its regular season finale with Miller netting her seventh of the season in the 22nd minute before Ngwatung added her seventh in the 54th. The two are tied for the team in goals (7), assists (4), and points (18).

The Green Terror scored two goals on just six shots, including four on goal. After holding the Bullets to just six shots in the first 45 minutes, Gettysburg totaled 11 in the second half and held a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.

It wasn't until the 83rd minute until the Bullets were able to get themselves on the board. Until then, sophomore Sierra Ruehl held them at bay with seven saves, including four in the second half.

However, Karissa Hufnagle struck twice just two minutes apart to tie the game at 2-2 in the 85th minute for what proved to be the final margin with the tying tally coming after a corner kick.

With the regular season complete, McDaniel will now prepare for next week's conference tournament contest at the Soccer Complex where the team is 5-1-2 this season and looking to advance to the semifinals for the 11th time in 12 appearances.

The opponent will be determined at the conclusion of Saturday's conference schedule, but game time for Tuesday's first round contest will be 2:30 p.m.
