WESTMINSTER, Md. –Brittany Baer (Westminster,
Md./Westminster) tallied two goals and an assist to lead
McDaniel to a 7-0 victory over Columbia Union in non-conference
women's soccer action on Thursday.
With the seven goals, the Green Terror (3-5), who outshot the
Pioneers (3-7) by a 28-0 margin, notched its most lopsided victory
since a 9-0 victory over Bryn Mawr in 2003.
Leading 1-0 on a Baer goal in the 20th minute,
Rachael Hurst (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) took a
pass through the defense from Jackie Kahler (Clarksville,
Md./River Hill) and beat the defense to the net to double
the advantage 32 seconds before the intermission.
Baer needed just 2 minutes, 27 seconds of the second half to make
it 3-0, finishing the last 40 yards of the field of a pass from
Bridget Thomas (West Chester, Pa./Archmere
Academy).
Baer added an assist in the 54th minute, finding
Rachel McCallum (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) with a
short pass on the left side of the box.
Kahler made it a one-goal, one-assist day, beating the defenders by
herself in the 62nd minute.
Nearly seven minutes later, Tia Scott (Hagerstown,
Md./North Hagerstown) crossed the ball to Alex
Spivack (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood), who finished from 16
yards out for her first collegiate tally.
Jessica Peyton (Middletown, Md./Middletown)
one-timed an arcing shot into the top of the net in the
88th minute to set the final margin.
McDaniel also held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Green Terror returns to action at Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Game
time is 1 p.m.
