McDaniel gets offensive, blanks Columbia Union

WESTMINSTER, Md. –Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) tallied two goals and an assist to lead McDaniel to a 7-0 victory over Columbia Union in non-conference women's soccer action on Thursday.

With the seven goals, the Green Terror (3-5), who outshot the Pioneers (3-7) by a 28-0 margin, notched its most lopsided victory since a 9-0 victory over Bryn Mawr in 2003.
Leading 1-0 on a Baer goal in the 20th minute, Rachael Hurst (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) took a pass through the defense from Jackie Kahler (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) and beat the defense to the net to double the advantage 32 seconds before the intermission.
Baer needed just 2 minutes, 27 seconds of the second half to make it 3-0, finishing the last 40 yards of the field of a pass from Bridget Thomas (West Chester, Pa./Archmere Academy).
Baer added an assist in the 54th minute, finding Rachel McCallum (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) with a short pass on the left side of the box.
Kahler made it a one-goal, one-assist day, beating the defenders by herself in the 62nd minute.
Nearly seven minutes later, Tia Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) crossed the ball to Alex Spivack (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood), who finished from 16 yards out for her first collegiate tally.
Jessica Peyton (Middletown, Md./Middletown) one-timed an arcing shot into the top of the net in the 88th minute to set the final margin.
McDaniel also held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Green Terror returns to action at Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
