LANCASTER, Pa. – Stephen Gomez (Charlottesville,
Va./Albermarle) recorded a sixth- and seventh-place finish
to lead the McDaniel men to an eighth-place showing at the Franklin
& Marshall Invitational in swimming action on Saturday and
Sunday.
The Green Terror finished with 181 team points. The host Diplomats
won the team title with 683 points.
On the women's side, McDaniel was eighth with 135 points.
Kutztown won the nine-team event with 773 points.
Gomez finished sixth in the 200 butterfly (2:05.91) and seventh in
the 400 IM (4:28.75). Gomez was also part of the 800 free relay,
which finished seventh with a time of 7:47.59.
Morgan DeHart (Salisbury, Md./Wiciomico) added a
seventh-place showing in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of
18:09.82. He also touched 11th in the 400 IM in a time
of 4:35.20.
James Eu (Reston, Va./Hargrave Military Academy)
notched the only other top-10 individual finish with a
10th-place showing in the 200 freestyle
(1:50.42).
Jessica Fry (St. Mary's, Ga./Camden County)
led the Green Terror women with a pair of top-12 individual
finishes. She was 10th in the 400 IM with a time of
5:03.08 and 12th in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of
19:12.39.
Rachel Walega (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) recorded
the top individual finish for McDaniel, touching sixth in the 100
breaststroke with a time of 1:12.08.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Elizabethtown on
Jan. 13. Meet time is 6 p.m.
