Ursinus sweeps McDaniel

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Christopher Smith won three individual events to lead Ursinus to a 116-74 men's swimming victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday.

            The Bears (4-0, 1-0 CC) won the 10 events competed to defeat the Green Terror (0-3, 0-3 CC) in their first conference action of the season.
            On the women's side, Ursinus (4-0, 1-0 CC) took a 120-83 victory over McDaniel (0-3, 0-3 CC), winning eight events keyed by a three-win day from Katie Clare Kelley.
            Amanda Burke (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) and Katie Dorian (Newtown Square, Pa./Notre Dame Academy) each won twice for the Green Terror.
            Burke won the 200 butterfly (2:30.71) while Dorian was victorious in the 200 freestyle (2:06.70) before both were part of the team's win in the 400 free relay (3:58.40). Gaby Cifuentes (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) and Alyssa Romasco (Gilbertsville, Pa./Perkiomen) joined the duo on the relay.
            Kelley was part of the meet-opening 400 medley relay victory (4:20.80) before winning the 50 (26.04) and 100 (56.68) freestyle races.
            Emily Herman won two individual events, touching first in the 1000 (11:24.61) and 500 (5:32.77) freestyle races.
            Jessica Saloky and Danielle Yentz joined Kelley on the 400 medley relay before winning individual events. Saloky won the 200 IM (2:22.73) and 200 breaststroke (2:36.57) while Yentz touched first in the 200 back (2:20.89).
            Smith touched first in the 200 free (1:54.33), 200 butterfly (2:04.45) and 500 free (5:14.74).
            Lloyd Tannenbaum, Ryan Kennedy and Andrew Piasecki all won twice for the Bears.
            McDaniel returns to action at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Dec/. 6-7.
