Gettysburg sweeps McDaniel

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Emilie Youmans won two events to lead Gettysburg to a 114-65 women's swimming victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Wednesday.

            The Bullets (3-0, 2-0 CC) won the eight events competed to defeat the Green Terror (0-2, 0-2 CC) and remain undefeated on the season.
            On the men's side, Gettysburg (3-0, 2-0 CC) took a 103-67 victory over McDaniel (0-2, 0-2 CC), winning six of the meet's first seven events.
            Freshman James Eu (Reston, Va./Hargrave Military Academy) had two victories to his credit for the second time in as many meets during his debut campaign.
            Stephen Gomez (Charlottesville, Va./Albermarle) and Morgan DeHart (Salisbury, Md./Wiciomico) earned McDaniel's other two individual wins while Rachel Walega (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) won the 100 breaststroke for the second time in two collegiate events.
            Youmans was part of the meet opening 200 medley relay, which touched first in 1:57.00 for the Bullets winning the 100 free in a time of 55.48.
            Adam Taft was the lone double winner for the Gettysburg men. He was also part of the meet-opening 200 medley relay that had a winning time of 1:43.32 before touching first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.03.
            Eu's two victories came in the 500 free (5:08.00) and as the leadoff leg in the 200 free relay (1:44.52).
            Gomez was victories in the 100 backstroke (4:36.38) while DeHart was the winner in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.88).
            Walega won the 100 breaststroke for the women with a time of 1:11.86 before the 200 free relay team closed out the meet with a win (1:49.50).
            McDaniel returns to action at Ursinus on Saturday. Meet time is 1 p.m.
