LANCASTER, Pa. - Senior Ameerah Johnson reset her own program record in the weight throw to highlight competition for the McDaniel College women's track & field team at the Mini Dip Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall on Saturday.
Johnson posted a mark of 12.84 meters to place 12th and now has the best six marks in program history. Senior Kate Principio placed 27th with a throw of 9.49 meters.
Junior Sophia Leone placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.18 meters, junior Michaela Carney jumped 3.03 meters to place fourth and sophomore Tara Hornung also jumped 3.03 meters to place fifth. Carney and Hornung both moved into second in program history. First-year Allison Kapustka placed eighth, jumping 2.88 meters to move into sixth in program history.
Senior Allie Rolek jumped 2.43 meters to place 12th and senior Summer James placed 13th with a mark of 2.28m.
Senior Piper Nagaraj placed seventh in the 600 meters with a time of 1:52.08 to move into fourth in program history.
Junior Maya Colavito placed third in the 5,000 meters with a personal-best time of 19:42.17, a mark that ranks ninth in program history.
Senior Anna Rando placed eighth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.35 seconds. Graduate student Taylor Pinthiere placed 19th with a time of 9.22 seconds and sophomore Maddie Alexander ran 9.39 seconds to place 24th.
Rando also placed ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.00 seconds.
Sophomore Gabby DeMarco placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 4.67 meters. Rando placed 16th at 4.43 meters while Pinthiere jumped 4.11 meters to place 20th. Senior Elyssa Greene jumped 3.66 meters to place 27th.
DeMarco also placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 9.74 meters while Greene placed 11th at 8.65 meters.
First-year Evie Eggers placed fifth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 11:43.94.
First-year Isabel Meadows-Soto placed sixth in the mile with a time of 5:42.27 and senior Anna Kale ran 6:18.51 to place 18th. First-year Sophie Tressler ran 6:48.08 to place 23rd and senior Arianna Lowengrub ran 6:53.49 to place 24th.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Nagaraj, Meadows-Soto, Kale, and Lowengrub ran 4:50.38 to place seventh.
Principio placed 25th in the shot put with a mark of 7.88 meters. Sophomore De'Ashia Davis placed 26th with a mark of 7.59 meters, Alexander threw 7.27 meters to place 33rd, and junior Sophie Schwaab placed 34th with a mark of 7.27 meters.
McDaniel will return to action at the Valentine Invitational hosted by Susquehanna next Saturday, February 14.
