VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Senior Kate Principio placed 10th in the weight throw to lead the throwers for the McDaniel College men's and women's track & field teams at the Marlin Invitational hosted by Virginia Wesleyan Friday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

Principio qualified for the 2026 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in the weight throw with a mark of 9.82 meters. She also placed 18th in the shot put with a mark of 7.69 meters.

Sophomore De'Ashia Davis placed 19th in the shot put at 7.31 meters while sophomore Maddie Alexander came in 20th with a mark of 7.08 meters.  

On the men's side, senior AJ Iglesias placed 16th in the weight throw and qualified for the conference championship meet with a mark of 11.66 meters. Junior Jamey Travers placed 26th at 10.06 meters.

Sophomore Darnell Gilliam placed 23rd in the shot put with a mark of 10.15 meters while Travers placed 27th at 9.76 meters.

Both teams return to action on Saturday at the PLEX Shootout hosted by Alvernia.
