GREENWOOD, Ind. - The McDaniel College men's soccer team had three players named to the Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team selected by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Senior
Jake Kegley, junior
Charlie Olson, and sophomore
Jack Guerrera each earned their first career Academic All-District® honor.
The Academic All-America® program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must meet the following criteria:
- Must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
- Must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
- Must have competed in at least 90 percent of team games played OR have started at least 66 percent of the total number of team games played.
Kegley is a Business Administration and Accounting double major with a 3.76 GPA. He played in all 19 of the team's games while making 18 starts in the midfield. He totaled 1,537 minutes played and helped the Green Terror rank third in the Centennial Conference in fewest goals allowed with 15 in 19 games, an average of just 0.79 per game.
Olson is an Accounting major with a perfect 4.00 GPA. He was named to the All-Centennial Conference Second Team this year, playing in all 19 games with 18 starts and leading the team with six goals and 13 points, both career highs. He ranks third in the conference in goals and fifth in points. Half of his goals were game-winners, the second-most in the league.
Guerrera is also an Accounting major with a 3.73 GPA. He appeared in 18 games with seven starts and 524 minutes. He netted his first career goal with a tally in the 78th minute of a 3-0 victory at Albright on Sept. 10.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Tuesday, Dec. 16.
