WESTMINSTER, Md. - Senior
Charlie Olson had a hand in all three goals for the McDaniel College men's soccer team in a 3-0 non-conference win over Alright at the Soccer Complex on Tuesday.
The Green Terror (2-0) picked up their second-straight home win and sixth consecutive against the Lions. McDaniel also won last year's meeting in Reading, Pa. by the same margin.
Olson finished with a career-high four points with one goal and two assists. He also had four points in last year's match-up against Albright with two goals. In two career meetings against the Lions, Olson finished with eight points on three goals and two assists.
Olson netted what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 31st minute when he scored off an assist from first-year
David O'Donnell.
O'Donnell then scored his first career goal on a pass from Olson to return the favor in the 52nd minute before Olson connected with first-yearÂ
Nebiyu Samuel who netted his first career goal in the 81st minute to provide the final margin.
Olson and O'Donnell are now tied for the team lead in points with four along with sophomore
Nicholas Clarke who had two goals in a 2-1 win over Penn State Harrisburg in the season opener a week ago today.
Five different players have combined for 15 points for the Green Terror through the first two games with seven coming from newcomers.
The Green Terror doubled up the Lions (0-2-1) in shots, out-shooting them, 12-6. The defense, led by junior
Trevor Grodsky and sophomore
Joseph Arthur, limited the visitors to just one shot on goal that was saved by first-year
Gavin Yartymyk who picked up his first career shutout.
McDaniel hosts the second of three consecutive home games this week when it welcomes Penn State Altoona to the Hill on Saturday. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
