Nebiyu Samuel scored three goals as the McDaniel College men's soccer team posted a 6-2 win over Penn State Altoona on Saturday at the Soccer Complex.
The Green Terror (3-0) posted its highest goal total since Oct. 5, 2022 in a 6-0 win over Christendom at home.
Samuel recorded the first hat-trick since Liam Ireland had three goals in an 8-0 win over St. Vincent on Sept. 24, 2019. Samuel is the only first-year to record a hat-trick in program history.

Charlie Olson added two goals and an assist and now has nine points in his last two games. He has had a hand in six of the team's nine goals during that time with three goals and three assists.
Penn State Altoona's Tyler Tardiff made three saves before Samuel notched his first goal just 12:53 into the first half. The Nittany Lions (1-3) quickly responded with a goal at the 16:24 mark before adding a second goal just 1:05 later to take a 2-1 lead.
However, that wouldn't last long as Samuel netted his second goal of the game three minutes later to tie the game for the second time.
Olson then ripped off two goals in the span of five minutes, one of which was a penalty kick, to put the Green Terror up 4-2 with 18 minutes left.
Samuel followed it up 3:38 minutes later with his third goal to give McDaniel a 5-2 halftime lead.
The Green Terror held a 14-2 advantage in shots in the first half.
McDaniel scored the lone goal of the second half in the 87th minute when sophomore and reigning Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week
Nicholas Clarke scored his third goal of the season.

Tate Roth made his first start in goal and finished with two second-half saves. Junior
Joseph Peloquin made his first appearance of the season, playing the final nine minutes and stopping one shot in the 83rd minute.
The Green Terror return to action on Sunday with a non-conference clash against Methodist at home. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
