McDaniel Stays Unbeaten With Scoreless Draw Versus Methodist

WESTMINSTER, Md. - The McDaniel College men's soccer team remained unbeaten through four games this season with a scoreless draw against Methodist Sunday at the Soccer Complex.

The Green Terror (3-0-1), who are also unbeaten in their last seven regular season games at home, picked up their second shutout of the season.

The Monarchs (3-0-2), who are unbeaten in five games this season, entered the contest averaging 3.0 goals per game.

Methodist held a 13-5 advantage in shots, but had just six on goal, all of which were saved by first-year Gavin Yartymyk. He picked up his second shutout in three starts and finished three saves shy of his career high set in the season opener against Penn State Harrisburg.

The visitors had the game's first three shots in the opening 11 minutes, the third of which hit the crossbar. They held a 7-2 edge in first-half shots, but Yartymyk stopped both shots on goal.

Yartymyk made four of his saves in the second half, including three in the final 10 minutes to keep McDaniel unbeaten.

Sophomore Joseph Arthur, who played the full 90 minutes, and junior Trevor Grodsky, who played all but 10 minutes, helped hold the Monarchs scoreless for the first time this season.

The Green Terror hit the road for the first time this season on Wednesday, when they make the short 32-mile trip to Goucher. Kickoff from Beldon Field is at 4 p.m.
