Zelda Hirsch and sophomore
Ameerah Johnson both set school records to lead the McDaniel College women's track & field team on the first day of the Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The Green Terror currently sit in sixth-place out of 10 teams with 25 points.
Hirsch set a school record in the pole vault with a jump of 3.01 meters to place fourth, breaking the record set by freshman
Sophia Leone at last weekend's Larry Sharpe Invitational. Today, Leone placed sixth with a mark of 2.86 meters. Sophomore
Sofia DelRosso-Freeman placed seventh with the same mark.
Johnson set the program record in the weight throw with a throw of 12.00 meters to place 12th. Sophomore
Kate Principio placed 18th with a throw of 10.47 meters, the third-best mark in program history. Senior
Mikayla Smith placed 22nd with a throw of 8.91 meters.
Senior
Angel Bidgell placed fourth in the heptathlon with a score of 2,686 points, putting her third in program history. She jumped 5.15 meters in the long jump to move into second in program history. She also moved into sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.50 meters.
Graduate student
Bailey Mullen placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:22.86, the second-fastest time in program history. This was the fastest time by a McDaniel athlete in the 5,000 meters at the Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. Freshman
Maya Colavito placed 28th with a time of 20:40.23.
The 4x200-meter relay team of Bidgell, Leone, senior
Katie Morgan, and sophomore
Anna Rando placed sixth with a time of 1:49.83 to rank ninth in program history.
Rando also qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.82 seconds, the third-best time in program history. She placed 12th in the 60-meter dash as well with a time of 8.32 seconds. Sophomore
Taylor Pinthiere placed 28th with a time of 8.77 seconds.
The distance medley relay team of Mullen, Morgan, Colavito, and sophomore
Piper Nagaraj placed seventh with a time of 13:35.84.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Nagaraj, junior
Emily Paulson, sophomore
Anna Kale, and sophomore
Abby Warner placed 10th with a time of 11:48.20.
McDaniel concludes competition at this year's conference championship meet on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
