WESTMINSTER, Md. - Highlighted by three individual champions and one runner up, the McDaniel College men's wrestling team finished second at the 2024 Centennial Conference Wrestling Championship Saturday inside the Gill Center.

The Green Terror finished in second place for the second year in-a-row with 70.5 points while sophomore
Thomas Monn and senior
Jaedyn Harris both defended their titles at 149 and 197 pounds, respectively. Junior
Xavier Howard claimed his first individual championship at 157 pounds.
Ursinus claimed their second-straight title and 13th overall with 93 points.
Harris also received the prestigious Chris Clifford Award, given annually to the senior with the most career points accumulated at the conference championship. In three championship appearances, he has compiled 31 career points with back-to-back titles and one third-place finish in 2022.
Harris is the fourth McDaniel wrestler to earn the award, joining Ryan O'Boyle (2016), Brock Glotfelty (2011), and Drew Reinecker (2005). O'Boyle also received the award the last time the championship was hosted in Westminster.
Meanwhile, Monn shared Most Outstanding Performer honors with Merchant Marine's Tyler Withers. Ranked ninth in the nation and second in the Mideast Region, Monn earned two wins by decision to improve his record to 28-2 this season.
The Green Terror led the way with three individual winners and are now tied with Muhlenberg for the second-most all-time with 51.
Monn began the day with a one-point win over Gettysburg's Ethan Composto who is ranked sixth in the Southeast Region before posting an 8-1 decision over Dante Monaco of Ursinus who is eighth in the Mideast Region.
Howard opened with a fall over Merchant Marine's Austin Manning and then posted a commanding 26-15 major decision against Max Parnis of Ursinus. Ranked third in the Mideast Region, he secured his first career championship with a 4-2 decision against Gettysburg's Gavin Pascoe.
Harris, ranked 11th nationally and second in the Mideast Region, posted an 11-3 major decision versus Jimmy Dunagan of Merchant Marine before claiming his second-straight title with his second win in the last two weeks over Ursinus' Nils Updale who is ranked fourth in the Mideast Region.
McDaniel almost had a fourth individual champion to match last year as sophomore
Ryan Ohler, who is ranked eighth regionally, almost knocked off two regionally-ranked wrestlers to earn the title at 165 pounds. He began with a 5-3 decision over fifth-ranked Jake Hoffmann of Johns Hopkins before being edged by fourth-ranked Shawn Marchesano of Ursinus in the final, 8-5, after a late take down with less than a minute remaining.

Romeo Tsai (125), senior
Alex DuFour (133) and graduate student
Dalton Pearl (174) each had third-place finishes while junior
Val Pryor finished fourth at 184 pounds.
The Green Terror have two weeks before returning to action at the Mideast Futures Tournament hosted by The College of New Jersey on Sunday, Feb, 25. The NCAA Mideast Regional begins on Saturday, March 2 in Rochester, N.Y.
