WINCHESTER, Va. - The McDaniel College women's indoor track & field team opened its season at the Holiday Kickoff Open hosted by Shenandoah on Sunday with multiple top-10 marks.
The Green Terror placed seventh out of 12 teams with 37 points. Centennial Conference rival Dickinson won the team title with 131 points.
Senior Angel Bidgell jumped 33' 4.5" (10.17m) in the triple jump to place third and move into fifth in program history. Freshman Gabby DeMarco placed fourth with a jump of 32' 6.5" (9.92m) to move into eighth in program history. The marks qualified both for the 2025 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Sophomore Sophia Leone placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 9' 6.25" (2.90m), clearing the conference qualifying mark. Junior Kate Principio and junior Summer James jumped 7' 0.5" (2.15m) to tie for seventh.
Sophomore Maya Colavito placed third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 20:32.71, qualifying for the conference meet, while junior Natalie Kaminsky ran 23:07.19 to place ninth.
Bidgell jumped 4' 7" (1.40m) in the high jump to place fourth and qualify for the conference championship.
DeMarco placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 15' 10.25" (4.83m), qualifying for the conference championship and ranking ninth in program history. Bidgell jumped 13' 6.75" (4.13m) to place 15th.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Bidgell, junior Anna Rando, junior Piper Nagaraj, and junior Anna Kale placed seventh with a time of 4:42.31.
Nagaraj placed eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:39.11.
Junior Nadia Dennis placed 11th in the shot put with a throw of 33' 3.75" (10.15m), ranking her ninth in program history and qualifying her for the conference championship. Freshman Eden Smallwood threw 30' 3.75" (9.24m) to place 16th.
Kale ran 6:10.24 to place 13th in the mile. Rando ran 10.23 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to place ninth and 1:06.42 in the 400 meters to place 16th. She qualified for the conference championship in both.
Freshman Nakayla Ross placed 19th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.66 seconds to qualifying for the conference meet.
Dennis placed 22nd in the weight throw with a mark of 31' 6.75" (9.62m) to rank fifth in program history. Principio placed 25th with a throw of 30' 10.5" (9.41m).
Bidgell placed 23rd in the 200 meters with a time of 29.20 seconds.
The Green Terror return to action on Sunday, Jan. 12 when they return to Shenandoah for the Kaye & JJ Smith Invitational.
