McDaniel Puts Up Big Numbers in 88-48 Win Over Wilson

WESTMINSTER, Md. - A total of 12 players scored as the McDaniel College women's basketball team scored a season-high 88 points in an 88-48 victory over Wilson Monday evening inside the Gill Center.

The Green Terror (8-2) remained unbeaten in five home games this season with a win in the first-ever meeting against the Phoenix.

The 88 points were the most in six years under head coach Christin Gowan and the most since Jan. 27, 2018 in a 91-30 victory over Bryn Mawr at home.

Junior Elaina Beckett led all scorers with 14 points while adding seven rebounds and four assists. Freshman Kendra Mason had a career-high 11 points with three rebounds and three assists while sophomore Raegan Lenz just missed her second career double double wth 10 points and nine rebounds. She also added three blocks.

McDaniel shot 31-of-83 from the floor, the team's most shot attempts since they also had 83 in a 73-32 victory over Wesley at home on Dec. 15, 2012.

Of those 83 shot attempts, 35 were three-pointers, the team's highest total since it had 41 at Franklin & Marshall on Dec. 8, 2018.

The Green Terror also had 60 rebounds, including 28 offensive. Both totals marked their most since Feb. 4, 2023 in a 73-29 home win against Bryn Mawr.

After a slow start in which the two teams combined for just 10 points in the first five-and-a-half minutes, McDaniel used a 13-6 run over the final 4:27 to take a 19-10 lead after the first quarter.

However, the Green Terror exploded for 26 second-quarter points, their most in a single quarter this season. They also had 26 in the third quarter of a 71-36 win at Notre Dame (MD) on Nov. 20. McDaniel scored 17 points off 10 Wilson turnovers, to take a 45-18 halftime lead. Beckett scored eight of her 14 points in the quarter.

The Green Terror stretched their lead to as many as 39 late in third quarter before scoring 20 fourth-quarter points led by eight from Mason who was 2-for-2 from three-point range. She also added three assists while junior Emily Lockard added five points and two assists.

McDaniel scored 50 of its 83 points off the bench, led by 11 from Mason and a season-high nine from sophomore Carli Vogel. Sophmore Ally Mathias added seven along with a career-high 11 rebounds.

The Green Terror conclude 2024 with a road contest at Alvernia on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 3 p.m. in what will be the first meeting between the two teams since Dec. 1, 2001.
