WINCHESTER, Va. - McDaniel College women's indoor track & field senior Katie Morgan posted two wins and earned meet MVP honors at the Kaye & JJ Smith Invitational hosted by Shenandoah on Sunday.
The Green Terror placed fourth out of 11 teams with 69 points in their first meet since Dec. 4. The host Hornets took home top team honors with a total of 135 points.
Morgan won the 400 meter run with a time of 1:02.42, winning the event by over two seconds. Morgan would also win in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.30. Senior Angel Bidgell placed third with a time of 28.28.
Graduate Student Bailey Mullen won the 1 mile run with a time of 5:27.74. This time moves her to sixth in program history. Sophomore Piper Nagaraj ran 6:11.80, good for 16th place. Mullen would later run the 3000 in a time of 10:51.05 to finish third. This will move her to sixth in program history. Freshman Maya Colavito placed 22nd with a time of 11:59.66.
Sophomore Sofia DelRosso-Freeman placed third in pole vault with a jump of 2.75 meters. This puts her in a tie for second in program history. Junior Zelda Hirsch placed fifth with a jump of 2.60 meters.
Bidgell placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.44 meters. This moves her to seventh in program history. She also got fourth in the long jump with a jump of 4.65 meters. Sophomore Taylor Pinthiere placed 10th with a jump of 4.17 meters. Sophomore Elyssa Greene jumped 3.27 meters good for 14th. Bidgell also placed sixth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.43. Pinthiere placed 23rd with a time of 9.08.
Senior Mikayla Smith threw a personal best 9.71 meters in the weight throw. Sophomore Kate Principio placed eleventh with a throw of 6.73 meters.
Nagaraj Placed sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:46.78. Sophomore Arianna Lowengrub runs a personal best pf 2:57.26 to place ninth. Sophomore Abby Warner followed in tenth with a time of 3:23.92.
Principio placed 16th in shot put with a throw of 7.54 meters. Senior Audrey Perrin followed in 17th with a personal best throw of 7.22 meters. Smith placed 22nd with a throw of 5.78 meters.
McDaniel will return to action for the Coach I Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall next Saturday, Jan. 20.
