SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The McDaniel College baseball team traveled to Swarthmore for a Centennial Conference doubleheader Saturday, falling 11-1 in the opener before weather forced the cancelation of the remainder of game two with the scored tied at 9-9.

Joey Hubinger opened the game with a triple, then tagged up and scored on a sacrifice fly from fellow senior
Hunter Kelly. With a one-run lead, freshman
Tyson Nercessian got the start for McDaniel and went five innings against Swarthmore. The Garnet answered in the bottom half of the first with a two-run homer to left field.
Nercessian held the Swarthmore offense in check over the next two innings, but the Garnet added three more runs over the fourth and fifth inning.
Leading 5-1, Swarthmore gave up just four hits to the Green Terror with eight innings pitched by Liam Alpern. They eventually built a 10-run lead and secured the win.

The Green Terror offense responded in game two with seven runs in the first inning. After a walk to put
Ben Davis on first, Hubinger blasted a two-run shot over the left field fence.
Jake Smith, who went 3-4 in game two, came up next and singled up the middle, followed by another single from
Austin Goudeaux. Kelly got on base, then
Billy Wheatley drove in Smith with a sacrifice fly ball to center field. The inning wasn't over, as the Green Terror ripped four-straight RBI singles to lead 7-0.
Swarthmore responded with three runs in the first, then another four in the second to tie the game up. In the third inning, Aidan Sullivan connected on an RBI double to left field giving Swarthmore their first lead of the game.
Hubinger and Smith
both singled in the fourth inning as McDaniel tried to retake the lead. Kelly then laced an RBI-single to left field driving in Hubinger. Smith was able to score on a balk, and the Green Terror was back in front 9-8.
Dylan Parsons, who came into the game for
Ryan Martino, found a rhythm early and held the potent Garnet offense to just two runs over five innings on the mound. Parsons faced 23 batters and gave up just five hits.
In the sixth inning, Swarthmore scored the tying run off an RBI-single to right center. McDaniel came to bat in the top of the seventh inning and put two men on base. With runners on second and third, the game was called due to weather and eventually finalized for the 9-9 tie.
McDaniel returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Washington College at Preston Field beginning at 3:30 p.m.
