WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel College wrestling sophomore Xavier Howard posted a fall at 157 pounds, but Ursinus won four of the final five matches in a 26-16 Centennial Conference victory Saturday.

Prior to the match, the No. 24 Green Terror (6-8, 0-1 CC) honored its three seniors in Jake Doyle, Michael Bromley and Alex LaVeck on Senior Day.

The Bears won the first three matches to jump out to a 10-0 lead. Terry Adams, who is ranked second in the Mid-East Region at 125 pounds, edged out a 6-3 decision over fourth-ranked Alex DuFour in the first of six matches featuring a national or regionally-ranked wrestler.

However, keyed by a major decision by the region's top-ranked wrestler and No. 3 nationally at 149 pounds, freshman Thomas Monn, McDaniel tied the match at 10-10 after Howard picked up his second fall of the season in just 2:13 over Derek Giordano.

Howard has won three-straight overall and four of his last five.

Ursinus (7-3, 2-0 CC) doubled up the Green Terror after wins at 165 and 174 pounds, highlighted by a major decision by Shawn Marchesano who is ranked second in the region at 165.

With the Bears leading 20-10, the match at 184 featured two regionally-ranked wrestlers in Bromley (5th) and Gary Nagle (6th). In a back-and-forth affair, Nagle used two escapes and a takedown to take a 7-4 lead before a fourth escape point late in the third proved to be the difference, sealing the match for the visitors.

Junior Jaedyn Harris extended his win streak to seven with a first-period fall at 197 pounds before Jake Ahmad, ranked sixth in the region, provided the final margin with a 7-3 decision at 285.

McDaniel faces it second-straight Centennial Conference opponent on Friday, Jan. 27 when it makes the short trip to Baltimore to take on Johns Hopkins. Match time is at 7 p.m. inside Goldfarb Gymnasium.
