THE SKINNY
McDaniel claimed three medals and had four all-time top-five times as part of a seventh-place finish at the 2022 Centennial Conference championship hosted by Ursinus. The Green Terror scored 32 points.
THE LEADERS
• Gabby Collins (Indian River, Md./North Point), Katie Morgan (Chesapeake City, Md./Carvel Academy), Angel Bidgell (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill), and Yeseniah Ortiz (Glassboro, N.J./Delsea Regional) combined to close the day on Saturday with a gold-medal performance in the 4x200-meter relay, winning with a time of 1:47.47 – more than a second ahead of second-place Dickinson. It ws the first time the Green Terror took first in the relay since winning it three straight years between 2001 and 2003. It was the second-fastest relay time in program history to only the 2001 winning time.
• Sarah Case (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) nabbed a silver in the shot put, tossing her first throw of the championship a program-record distance of 12.52 meters to better her own mark by 0.45 meters from December.
• Katie Morgan grabbed an individual medal to go with her relay gold, taking bronze in the 200 with a personal-best time of 26.52 seconds. The mark is fourth in program history. She also turned in the No. 2 time in program history in the 400, finishing fourth with a time of 1:01.10.
FOR THE FOES:
• Johns Hopkins won its 11th straight team title going away, amassing 343 points to outdistance second-place Swarthmore by 256 points.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Renee Dupre (Hagerstown, Md./Smithsburg High) finished seventh in the pentathlon with 2118 points. She was fifth in both the 60 hurdles (10.83 seconds) and high jump (1.37 meters). She was also eighth in the open high jump with the same mark. She also placed 11th in the open 60 hurdles with a time of 10.58 seconds.
• Shannon Short (Waldorf, Md./North Point) finished 11th in the 800 with a personal-best time of 2:32.32.
• Gabby Collins was 11th in the 200 with a time of 27.50 seconds. She also placed 14th in the 60 with a time of 8.41 seconds.
• Angel Bidgell (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) posted a personal-best time of 8.51 seconds to finish 18th in the 60. She was also 14th in the 200 (27.71).
• Yeseniah Ortiz finished 19th in the 200 with a personal-best time of 28.32 seconds. She was also 18th in the 400 with a time of 1:05.43.
• Rachel Dixon (Crofton, Md./Arundel) finished 21st in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 28.36 seconds. She was also 19th in the 60 (8.54).
• Jasmine Porter (Clinton, Md./Friendly) placed 23th in the 60 meters with a personal-best time of 8.76 seconds.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Bailey Mullen (Baltimore, Md./Catholic High School of Baltimore) placed 14th in the 800 meters (2:34.79).
• The distance medley relay of Shannon Short, Megan O'Neill, Anna Persick, and Bailey Mullen combined to post a time of 13:51.79 and place ninth.
• Shannon Short, Bailey Mullen, Anna Persick, and Megan O'Neill combined to place 10th in the 4x800 with a time of 10:50.70.
