THE REST OF THE STORY
 • Keyed by five early points from Kaelen Kanealey (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit), McDaniel built a 7-2 lead through the first 2:54 of the game. Trailing 14-10, Carl Schaller hit a 3-pointer to spark an 8-0 run that turned the four-point deficit into a four-point lead and forced a Green Terror timeout with 12:27 to play in the opening half. Chris McAboy momentarily halted the run with a triple from the top of the key to trim the margin to 18-17 with 11:47 showing but Gettysburg scored the next seven to ultimately put together a 15-3 run over a 5-minute, 34-second stretch. Two Dragan Hornatko (Baltimore, Md./Glenelg Country Day School) 3-pointers helped close the deficit to 27-25 and force a timeout with 6:47 on the clock. The first-half lead swelled as large as 35-25 on a Colin Farrell 3-pointer with 4:59 showing. A Mike Wallace 3-pointer just before the half ended closed the deficit to 43-38.
 • Buckets from Carter Truby (Sykesville, Md./Century) and Wallace to start the second half quickly closed the deficit to one. After Josh Sproul (Princess Anne, Md./Washington Academy) missed the and-one free throw, Kanealey connected on a layup for a four-point possession that tied the game at 48-all with 17:07 remaining. Gettysburg responded with five straight points to go back in front for good. The Bullets' lead fluctuated between two and eight points in a back-and-forth next nearly nine minutes. Treys from McAboy and Wallace were instrumental in an 8-0 burst over 1:19 that gave McDaniel a brief 70-69 edge with 4:39 to play. Elijah Williams hit the front end of a 1-and-1 to tie the game 19 seconds later before two makes from Farrell at the charity stripe put the hosts back in front on the next possession. The Bullets went in front 74-70 before a David Smoot III (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) three-point play once again trimmed the deficit to one with 2:53 to play. Gettysburg, however, scored the next five points of the game to pull away for the win.
