THE REST OF THE STORY
• After two ties and three lead changes in the first 3:02, layups from Josh Sproul and Josh Arruda (Morrisville, Pa./Pennsbury) sparked a 12-4 burst to open up a 19-13 advantage with 13:54 remaining. The lead closed to 25-23 on an Isaiah Cureton 3-pointer with 10:12 remaining before Sproul responded with a triple of his own just over a minute later to spark a 9-0 run that opened up a double-digit lead. Bryn Athyn closed to within four but a Kaelen Kanealey three-point play made it a 44-37 game at the break.
• Trailing 50-41 with 16:18 to play, Matt Contreras canned back-to-back 3-pointers to spark an 8-0 run that put the Lions in front just over two minutes later. Neither team could open up a lead of larger than four over the next nearly 10 minutes. Trailing 68-64, Carter Truby drained back-to-back triples from the wings to turn the four-point deficit into a two-point lead with 3:04 to play. A Sproul steal-and-layup pushed the lead to 72-68 with 1:40 to play. After two Derreck Orr free throws with 41 ticks left, Truby nailed another 3-pointer to push the lead to five. Cureton drove baseline to make it a three-point game. McDaniel missed a pair of free throws in the final 10 seconds but held on for the victory.
THE INSIDE STORY
• The Green Terror are 3-0 to start a season for the first time since Kevin Curley started his coaching tenure 6-0 in 2007-08.
• McDaniel finished with a 37-26 advantage in rebounding.
• The Lions were 13 of 16 from the free-throw line while the Green Terror went just 6-for-9. McDaniel, however, hit 13 of its 33 -point attempts. Both numbers were one shy of the program record.
