Case opens season with qualifiers in shot put, 60

THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel opened the season with eight Centennial Conference qualifiers at the Diplomat Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall.

THE LEADERS
Sarah Case (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) placed 22nd in the shot put with a conference-qualifying throw of 10.02 meters. The mark ranks seventh in program history. She was also 35th in the 60 to just hit the CC-qualifying time with a mark of 9.03 seconds, bettering her previous best in the event by 0.01 seconds.
Gabby Collins (Indian Head, Md./North Point) finished 10th in the 60 with a conference-qualifying time of 8.37 seconds. Her mark ranks 10th in program history. She was also 19th in the 200 with a CC-qualifying time of 28.00.

FOR THE FOES:
• There were no team scores at the season-opening meet.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Renee Dupre (Hagerstown, Md./Smithsburg) finished 15th in the 60 hurdles with a time of 10.70 seconds. Her conference-qualifying time ranks ninth in program history.
• Rachel Dixon (Crofton, Md./Arundel) placed 23rd in the 60 with a personal-best time of 8.72 seconds to hit the CC-qualifying mark.
Priscilla Owusu (Bowie, Md./Parkdale) hit the conference-qualifying standard in the 60 with a time of 9.00 seconds to place 33rd.
Yasmine Kabwasa McGuire finished 20th in the long jump with a conference-qualifying jump of 4.46 meters.
• Maria Kropkowski (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) crossed fourth in the 1000 with a personal-best time of 3:45.41.

THE INSIDE STORY
• Riley O'Hara was 25th in the 400 (1:12.10).
Anna Persick finished 28th in the 800 with a personal-best time of 3:20.58.
Rachel Dixon was also 44th in the 200 with a personal-best time of 29.77 seconds.
Sarah Case was 57th in the 200 with a personal-best time of 30.89 seconds.
• Yasmine Kabwasa McGuire was 39th in the 60 (9.12 seconds).
Priscilla Owusu was 58th in the 200 (31.02).
• The 4x800-meter relay of Maria Kropkowski, Riley O'Hara, Renee Dupre and Abby Gonzalez was second with a time of 12:32.64.

NEXT UP
McDaniel returns to action at the Orange and Maroon Classic on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17-18.
