Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel built a 21-point lead but then needed a late 3-pointer to top Muhlenberg 75-72 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on Saturday.

Senior Josh McWilliams (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) matched his career high for the Green Terror (6-19, 3-15 CC) with 30 points in his final collegiate game, including hitting the game-winning 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds left.

Owen McLeod led the Mules (11-14, 9-9 CC) with 23 points.

Trailing 68-63 with 4:12 to play after Muhlenberg erased a 19-point halftime lead, Stephen Lang (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville) drained a 3-pointer with 2:52 showing to cut the deficit to two.

A pair of Isaac Ray (Fredericksburg, Pa./Northern Lebanon) 3-pointers around a Ryan Gaynor layup gave McDaniel a 72-70 lead with 1:25 remaining.

Two Erik Werheim free throws with 61 ticks remaining tied the game once again.

After a missed layup, Austin Cannon (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) stole the ball in the backcourt and was fouled with 30.1 seconds on the clock.

Out of a timeout, the Green Terror ran the clock all the way down and Cannon drove to the elbow and kicked back out to McWilliams, who swished his sixth triple from the top of the arc.

McDaniel tipped the ensuing long pass away to hold on for the win.

McLeod scored the Mules' first 17 points and helped the visitors build a lead as large as seven through the first seven minute.

A McWilliams jumper with 13:21 to play in the opening half, made it a 17-13 game and ignited a 26-1 run that gave the Green Terror a 39-18 lead with 3:40 showing en route to a 47-28 halftime advantage.

Trailing 52-31 Nigel Long drained a trey with 17:13 remaining in the second half to spark a 28-7 run, tying the game at 59-all with 6:50 showing.

Lang finished with 17 points while Cannon added six points, five rebounds, eight assists and four steals. DJ Harper (Glenn Dale, Md./Riverdale Baptist) and Bamasa Bailor (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) led the way on the glass with eight and seven rebounds, respectively.
