THE SKINNY STORY
A pair of freshmen recorded conference qualifiers in their debuts to lead McDaniel at the non-scoring Diplomat Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall.
THE LEADERS
• Sarah Case (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) finished 35th in the shot put with a mark of 9.20 meters. The distance not only ranks ninth all-time but is also a Centennial Conference (CC) qualifier.
• Rachel Dixon (Crofton, Md./Arundel) also posted a CC qualifier in her debut, finishing 57th in the 60 with a time of 8.98 seconds.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Samantha Merkel (Baltimore, Md./Winters Mill) turned in a sixth-place finish in the 1000 with a personal-best time of 3:23.05.
• Jill Shephard (Monkton, Md./North Harford) also posted a PR in the 1000, placing 13th with a time of 3:59.56.
• The 4x800-meter relay of Samantha Merkel, Julia Murphy (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill), Megan Mesick (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) and Bailey Chapman (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill) was third with a time of 11:56.72.
• Sarah Case was also 46th in the long jump (3.68 meters), 65th in the 60 (9.29 seconds) and 66th in the 200 (32.00).
• Rachel Dixon also finished 43rd in the long jump (3.83 meters) and 58th in the 200 (30.77 seconds).
THE INSIDE STORY
• Megan Mesick was 11th in the 1000 with a time of 3:38.52.
• Maria Kropkowski placed 12th in the 1000 with a time of 3:54.90.
• Bailey Chapman finished 20th in the mile (6:29.63).
• Julia Murphy was 25th in the mile (6:39.81).
• Anna Persick placed 31st in the 800 (3:36.38).
• Corrine White finished 46th in the shot put (7.66 meters).
