WESTMINSTER, Md. – Catholic won five of the six singles matches for a 7-2 win over McDaniel in non-conference women's tennis action on Saturday.
Maddy Simmons (Bowie, Md./Bowie) led the Green Terror (0-1) with a pair of victories. She teamed with Lindsay Russell (Leonia, N.J./Leonia) for an 8-6 win at first doubles before taking a victory at No. 1 singles. Simmons dropped the first set 6-2 before winning the second set 7-5 to force a super-tiebreaker third set. Simmons prevailed 10-8 in that set.
Christina Cochrane led the Cardinals (3-0) with a pair of wins, not dropping a game in the process. She and Bridget Kikelly won third doubles, 8-0. Cochrane then took sixth singles, 6-0, 6-0.
McDaniel returns to action at the ITA Regionals hosted by Mary Washington on Friday.
