FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – A trio of McDaniel players competed at the ITA Southeast Regional Women's Tennis Championships at Mary Washington on Saturday.
In the Blue 5 Singles, Winsome Schauer (Hartford, Conn./Watkinson School) won her opening match, topping Shenandoah's Emma Crue 6-0, 6-0 to advance to the quarterfinals. In the round of eight, Bridgewater's Whitney Kiser defeated Schauer, 6-2, 6-1.
In the Blue 4 Singles, Maddy Simmons (Bowie, Md./Bowie) dropped a 7-5, 6-3 decision to Mary Hubert in the round of 16. She retired from the tournament before taking the court for her consolation match.
In the Blue 7 Singles, Leesa Malczewski (Denton, Md./Chesapeake) feel to Goucher's Miranda Egan-Brooks, 6-0, 6-0 in the opening match. She also retired from the tournament prior to her Sunday consolation match.
In Blue 3 Doubles, Schauer and Simmons fell to Moravian's Caitlin Adams and Aisling Doyle, 8-3. The duo did not compete in their Sunday consolation match due to injury.
