WESTMINSTER, Md. – Gettysburg swept doubles play en route to an 8-1 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's tennis action on Friday.
Winsome Schauer (Hartford, Conn./Watkinson School) led the Green Terror (3-5, 0-2 CC) with a three-set victory at third singles. Schauer took the first set 7-5 before Lindsay Morris won the second set 6-4 to force a third-set super-tiebreaker. Schauer prevailed in the deciding set, 10-5.
Laura Gradiska led the Bullets (2-2, 1-0 CC) with a 6-1, 6-1 win at second singles after teaming with Lindsay Morris for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
Dana Waskiewicz (Abingdon, Md./Harford Technical) also forced a third set for McDaniel. She took the opening set at fifth singles, 7-5. Emily Lutz responded with a 6-3 victory in the second set before winning the super-tiebreaker deciding set, 10-8.
The Green Terror returns to action at Haverford on Saturday. Match time is 11 a.m.
