HILTON HEAD, S.C. – McDaniel swept doubles play en route to an 8-1 win over Shepherd in non-conference women's tennis action on Wednesday.
Danielle Cloney (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) led the Green Terror (3-3) with a pair of wins, including by a 6-2, 6-1 margin at No. 4 singles.
Molly Lovern won the lone match for the Rams (4-12) by a 7-5, 6-3 count at No. 1 singles.
Cloney teamed with Tori Simmons (Bowie, Md./Bowie) for a 9-8 win at second doubles while Maddy Simmons (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and Winsome Schauer (Hartford, Conn./Watkinson School) partnered for a 9-8 victory at first doubles.
Leesa Malczewski (Denton, Md./Chesapeake) and Angela Johnson (Lansdowne, Md./Lansdowne) won by default at third dobules.
Tori Simmons added a 6-2, 7-6 win at second singles to cap a 2-0 day.
Schauer also made it a 2-0 day with a third-set, super-tiebreak victory at third singles, 10-8. She took the first set 6-1 before Alice D'Alauro forced the third set with a 7-6 win.
Dana Waskiewicz (Abingdon, Md./Harford Technical) also won in a third-set, super-tiebreaker at fifth singles. She also won the final set 10-8 after taking the opening set, 6-1. Brooke Davis won the second set, 7-5.
Nicole Arnold (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) earned a default win at sixth singles.
The Green Terror returns to action against St. Norbert on Thursday. Match time is 3 p.m.
