HAVERFORD, Pa. – Arielle Latourette (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) finished sixth in the pentathlon to lead McDaniel to a 10th-place finish at the 2015 Centennial Conference (CC) Indoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Haverford on Saturday and Sunday.
As a team, the Green Terror posted nine points. Johns Hopkins won its fifth straight championship with 163.5 points, outdistancing Haverford by nearly 50 points.
Lautourette finished with 2,149 points in the pentathlon, which is 30 points better than when she competed in the event two weeks ago at Navy.
Latourette's finished fourth in both the long jump (4.64 meters) and 800 (2:48.17). The 800 time earned her 483 points. The only event in which she tallied more points was in the 60 hurdles, where her time of 11.23 seconds earned 499 points.
She was also ninth in the open long jump, just missing scoring with her jump of 4.48 meters.
Individually, Shantae Byro (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern) competed in the most events. Her best finish came in the 200, where she was 10th with a time of 27.87 seconds. She was 11th in the triple jump (9.90 meters), 12th in the 60 (8.46 seconds) and 13th in the long jump (4.24 meters). The triple jump mark was the best of her rookie campaign and ranks fifth all-time. The 200 time was also a season best.
Claire Lawson (McMinnville, Ore./McMinnville) recorded the best place in an individual event for McDaniel, placing seventh in the 400 after the time had to be taken out to the one-thousandths second with a time of 1:02.34. Lawson also placed fifth in the 60 hurdles with a time of 10.00 seconds.
Kelly Gibson (Yardley, Pa./Pennington [N.J.]) placed 10th in the high jump, clearing 1.45 meters while Chloe Allen-Gorman (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) was 11th in the 800 with a time of 2:28.57
Byro, Allen-Gorman, Lawson and Latourette combined to place seventh in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:52.45. The time ranks ninth all-time.
Allen-Gorman and Lawson also joined Emily Gross (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) and Avalon McOmber (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) to finish seventh in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 10:20.78. The time ranks eighth all-time.
McDaniel returns to action at the ECAC Championship at the New York Armory on Saturday.
