CARLISLE, Pa. – Claire Lawson (McMinnville, Ore./McMinnville) finished third in the 55 hurdles finals to lead McDaniel to a fourth-place finish at the DuCharme Invitational hosted by Dickinson in women's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
As a team, the Green Terror garnered 55.5 points behind individual points from nine different athletes. Messiah won the nine-team invitational with 164 points.
After turning in a time of 9.28 seconds to rank second in the prelims – a time which is ninth all-time, Lawson finished the finals in a time of 9.30 seconds, a time which converts to a Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying time in the 60 hurdles.
Lawson also finished fourth in the 400 with a conference-qualifying time of 1:03.78. Chloe Allen-Gorman (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) crossed right behind her in a time of 1:04.72 to also hit the conference standard.
The duo also joined Emily Gross (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) and Shantae Byro (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern) to finished third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:31.11.
Byro, Allen-Gorman and Lawson also teamed with Arielle Latourette (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) to finish second in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:55.08.
Avalon McOmber (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) and Rebecca Debinski (Sykesville, Md./Century) added a pair of fourth-place showings. McOmber turned in a conference-qualifying time of 10:59.14 in the 3,000, a time which ranks seventh all-time. Debinski finished the 1,000 in a time of 3:45.42.
The duo also joined Kelsey Minyon (Millville, Del./Indian River) and Amelia Lawrence (Cabin John, Md./Walt Whitman) to finish third in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 11:22.42.
Kelly Gibson (Yardley, Pa./Pennington [N.J.]) placed fifth in the high jump to lead the way on the field side, clearing 1.47 meters.
Beth Lang (Eldersburg, Md./Century) placed sixth in the 1,000 with a time of 3:49.00 while Latourette was also sixth in the long jump, hitting the CC standard with a jump of 4.67 meters.
Byro rounded out point scorers, finishing eighth in the triple jump with a CC-qualifying distance of 9.28 meters.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Sweetheart Multimix hosted by Navy on Thursday. Action begins at 4:30 p.m.
