WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will travel to Gettysburg, Pa., to take on Gettysburg in the first-round of the 2015 Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball championship on Wednesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
The fifth-seeded Green Terror (14-11, 9-9 CC) faces the fourth-seeded Bullets (14-11, 10-8 CC). The winner advances to Friday's semifinals at top-seeded Johns Hopkins (22-3, 16-2 CC) in the day's second semifinal.
The day's first semifinal pits second-seeded Franklin & Marshall (20-5, 13-5 CC) against third-seeded Dickinson (20-5, 13-5 CC), slated to begin at 6 p.m. The day's second semifinal will begin at 8 p.m. or 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one.
The championship game will held on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Admission for all games is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Youths 12 and under as well as students from participating institutions, who present their ID, are free.
The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on Thursday, Mar. 5. The NCAA field will be announced on Monday at 12:30 p.m.
McDaniel is seeking its first CC championship and berth in the NCAA tournament.
Tim Stewart (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) leads the team in scoring (15.6 ppg) and rebounding (6.4 rpg). He also has 33 assists.
Phillip Perry (Crownsville, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) and Andrew Merlo (Rehoboth, Del./Cape Henlopen) are tied for second on the team in scoring (7.4 ppg). Perry is second on the squad with 40 steals. Merlo leads the team with 47 assists.
Wes Brooks (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) has a team-best 41 steals while ranking second with 46 assists. He also has a team-best 40 3-pointers.
