FAIRFAX, Va. – Kelly Gibson (Yardley, Pa./Pennington [N.J.]) finished eighth in the high jump to lead McDaniel at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason in women's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
Gibson cleared a height of 1.51 meters (4-11 ½) to hit one of three Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying standards and lead the Green Terror at the non-scoring meet. Her jump ranks fifth on the program's all-time list.
Shantae Byro (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern) and Arielle Latourette (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) also hit CC qualifiers and moved into the program's all-time top 10 in the 60. Byro was 47th in the race with a time of 8.53 seconds, which ranks sixth, while Latourette was 54th with a time of 8.72, which ranks ninth.
Claire Lawson (McMinnville, Ore./McMinnville) finished 10th in the 500, ranking third all-time with a time of 1:23.78.
Avalon McOmber (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) had the busiest day for McDaniel, finishing 27th in the mile (5:56.77) and 24th in the 1000 (3:36.97).
Chloe Allen-Gorman (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) placed 12th in the 1000 with a time of 3:13.57 while Rebecca Debinski (Sykesville, Md./Century) was 23rd with a time of 3:35.45. Beth Lang (Eldersburg, Md./Century) rounded out a quartet of runners in the event, placing 27th in a time of 3:57.25.
Kelsey Minyon (Millville, Del./Indian River) was 32nd in the mile (6:05.52) while Amelia Lawrence (Cabin John, Md./Walt Whitman) finished 36th (6:13.80) and Sarah Lighter (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) was 39th (6:33.11).
Allen-Gorman, Lawson, Debinski and Emily Gross (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) combined to finish fourth in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 10:36.97 while McOmber, Minyon, Lawrence and Lighter were sixth in a time of 11:12.58.
The Green Terror returns to action at the DuCharme Invitational hosted by Dickinson on Saturday.
